The first video following my trip to Istanbul is out! I absolutely had to film this video: Istanbul turned my approach to Street Photography upside down and I went on a very different route than the one I had anticipated.
The amazing people of Istanbul drew me closer and closer and before I knew it, I was taking their portraits at any given chance. Obviously, I shoot portraits for work (sometimes) but I’m not known for my Street Portraits or for being so at ease with asking people to pose for me. And yet it occurred naturally in Istanbul.
I’m not going to give too much away because you need to watch the video (and subscribe to my channel), but boy I’m so glad it happened. And I’ll give you more info on how I approach people as well as my 5 tips to make it a comfortable experience for you and the people you photograph.
In the meantime, I’m already collecting all the content I filmed and photographed in Istanbul to publish the next videos… Keep your eyes peeled!

Of course I had to find a way to shoot one of my sun alignments in Istanbul as well! It is unfortunately a bit too late in the year to photograph the sunrise I wanted against Ayasofya but there are still a couple ideas I want to explore if the weather cooperates.
Here I found this alignment with the sun setting behind the Galata tower and to me it's interesting that this comes straight after the One Canada Square I did in London just before leaving (it was in my Stories but may find way to the feed too eventually) because it's pretty much the same pointy shape.

I met with a local photographer here @seforotti_travel who was taking the same shot, a guy that worships "Sunsetism" and got me hooked to it immediately 😄

So, yeah, cross your fingers tight for me and hope the weather will stay nice so I can shoot more of these before I go back home. Thanks.

I finally made it to #istanbul ! Well, I arrived 4 days ago but to be honest with you, I was so happy about being able to travel again that I just savoured it and almost forgot social media, if not for a few stories to show off 😜

Now, very much unlike me, I'm going to post a totally non-curated series of photos in my feed. Much like this trip, I'm taking it day by day with no plan other than meet friends (old and new) and have an incredibly good time.
I suppose a YouTube video or two will make their way to my channel as well... so, subscribe!

If you thought those Sparkle filters could only be used for cityscape photography, it’s time to think again!
In fact, while walking around to shoot sample images for @hoyafilter_uk, I shot a bunch of Street photos as well. I took complete advantage of being able to photograph at wide-open Aperture to include people in fairy-like scenes with the Hoya Sparkle filters. Here’s a few.
It’s not something that you ordinarily see in Street Photography, and that to me is already a good reason to use these filters. They also soften neon lights so on top of the sparkle effect you can get a very cinematic look and feel.

Speaking of Street Photography, if everything goes well I will be flying to Istanbul tomorrow, 26 years after my first visit (gosh, I’ll probably meet photographers that were not even born when I went). There will be a Street Photo event and I will meet friends and spend some time savouring again what it’s like to be a tourist. And if you’re around and want to meet of course just DM me. And yes, hopefully, I’ll take good photos too.
So get ready for a few travel Stories coming your way very soon!
