Street Photography on the Hottest Day in London

OK, what do you do when is the hottest day in London (36C)? Well, obviously, you go out and enjoy the weather! And shoot a few pictures along the way!

At least, that’s what I did.
I like hot weather. Very much. It should go without saying because I’m half-Italian. But many people who grew up in hot weather conditions, actually don’t enjoy them much.
Not me. The “normal” temperature in London during Summer is around 26C, so it’s not really hot. Therefore I really celebrate when it’s the one day a year when I can finally sweat a little, LOL.

And of course, I took advantage of the sun on the hottest day in London to film my second episode of the Photography In Harsh Light series (the first is here).

I did things a little bit differently this time. First of all, I spent most of the time in one location, albeit a large one (Barbican estate, where I also start my Airbnb Experiences). Secondly, I decided to record the whole thing on the iPhone 11 Pro.
I don’t particularly fancy the distortion of the GoPro. And I had issues with the stabilisation on the Fujifilm X-T4 in these past weeks. So I decided to give the smartphone a chance. It may not be the best option in low light, but on the hottest day in London there was plenty of light to get it right. And I’m pleased to say it didn’t disappoint.
