Gear Matters. Here’s What Photographers (And YouTubers) Don’t Tell You.

You read it right, gear matters. I’m no stranger to controversial topics here and this video had to be made. But the more you watch it, the less controversial it will appear to you. And in the end, I hope that you will see how this is my way to empower you so that you can take your best photos ever.

Almost on a daily basis, I get asked which settings I use to take a photo. And the same goes for all my fellow photographers. I get it: you like our photos (thanks!) and would like to learn how to take them yourself. And it’s always good to ask questions.
We all try to make our settings public in our videos. However, the information we give you is often wrong or incomplete at best. It doesn’t help you take better photos. More likely, it sets you on the wrong path and frustrates you.

The Video

So let me come clean. And let me elaborate on why gear matters. Here’s how you can work around “The Big Lie” of us Photographers/YouTubers and how you can actually make the best use of it. “Gear doesn’t matter?” Let me debunk that here because gear matters. Just probably not the way you think it does.

I can’t wait to read all the comments pointing out how clickbait are title and thumbnail. Maybe they are. I just need your full attention here because I’m about to make you a better photographer.

I really hope this helps.
