5 Tips To Photograph Strangers – Street Portraits in Istanbul

If you follow my Stories on Instagram, you know that I just returned from my trip to Istanbul… And I immediately felt the need to publish these tips to photograph strangers!
This trip was a game-changer for my Street Photography and here I’m sharing all I did to capture street portraits.

In these past days in Istanbul, I found that my Street Photography was pulled to a completely different place. This beautiful city has had a major influence on my Photography and it came totally unexpectedly.

Thanks to all the amazingly friendly people I met, I was always drawn to photographing portraits. And not only candid shots, but actually asking people to pose for me in the street. And the language barrier was never a problem, thanks to my approach and the tips to photograph strangers that I mention here.
These are tips to photograph strangers that can very much come in handy in countries where you need consent to photograph people. Germany, Spain… The list is growing so I.m sure these tips will help you.

The Video

I’m still trying to find a good setup for filming in my new studio… What do you think about the “friendly podcast” approach? Too close maybe… I’ll try a wider angle.
I also recorded with my streaming software which weirdly saved in 4:3 rather than 16:9. Well, at least it looks like the trendy Super8 format. But I’ll figure that out too.
Any feedback is appreciated πŸ™‚

While you watch this video, I’m busy putting together all the content I filmed and photographed in Istanbul. There are about 4 hours of video and over 200 clips… Might take a little time. Just make sure you subscribe now so you won’t miss any of it.
You might see some of your favourite YouTubers in the coming videos: Roman Fox, Faizal Westcott, Gareth Danks…
Many of us were there at the same time and we all got fantastic experiences to share.

I leave you to the video with my tips to photograph strangers. Please enjoy and let me know in the comments if you have other tips to photograph strangers to share. The comment section is all yours! πŸ™‚

Cheers.
