Time for some rain photography! Street photography to be exact. Most foreigners think it always rains in London but in reality it’s mostly cloudy or just drizzling (and we do have sunny days, harsh ones too). Now, coming from Italy, I don’t really fancy going out when it’s grey, let alone pouring rain. But I do appreciate it’s a very good opportunity for photography. And so I force myself to do it every now and then.
So, watch here how I managed to go out and get soaked while shooting street photography under the pouring rain of London. Or is it just rain photography? Whatever…
Quite the torrential rain for a whole day but this has not stopped me from going out with my camera. Bad weather can actually be the chance for very interesting photos so it’s always a good idea to make the effort and try to go out in the rain (or snow, fog…).
And here I go around Central London to show you Soho, Chinatown, Piccadilly, Regent Street, Oxford Street and Southbank.
Also, I’m once again experimenting with new formats.
For this video, I spent some time editing a “cinematic” vlog. There’s a mix of footage and slow motion from the Fuji camera and the usual POV with the GoPro (which actually failed me a few times). All while showing some of the rain photography I shot during the day. Including a photo I absolutely love and also a couple of “wait a second” moments.
Do let me know your feedback in the comments.
The Video
I know it has flaws, it’s the first time I try something like this, but it was fun for me to edit this way and I’m willing to do more of these.
You’ll notice there’s not much talk in this video. But if you want to read my “director’s notes”, do enable the subtitles and you’ll get some extra info. There are rain photography shooting settings and a bit of rationale behind my way of shooting.
Lots of music and sound effects though, all from Epidemic Sound.

And as always, thank you so much for stopping by!
See you next time!
