My friend Dot Lung asked me to go live with her and talk about smartphone photography tips and how to take better photos with your phone. We both use iPhones, but all we talked about applies to Android as well. We did not talk about specific apps only available for one platform but actually discussed real examples of taking photos with a phone.

Dot Lung is a fantastic Digital Media Strategist who always marketed herself as the Mother of Social Media Dragons. A reference to Game Of Thrones, of course, but also to Dragons’ Den, as she helps many startups and smaller creators grow on social media.

As for myself, I photograph with my iPhone a lot. And you may remember from a previous post that I went shooting with only an iPhone for about 4 years before buying my first Fujifilm camera. At that time, I also used the iPhone for professional shooting. The lens on these devices has improved over the years, so this can certainly be a viable option. Maybe paired with a few accessories, even cheap ones.

We talked for about an hour and covered a lot of different topics. So if you’re looking for good real-life smartphone photography tips, this is worth your time!

The Video

Among the many smartphone photography tips we discussed in the live… Rule Of Thirds (also extensively covered in my post here), use of light, portraits, products, flat lays, HDR, long exposure, Instagram feed… There’s a tip for everyone!

And if you have a specific question about smartphone photography, feel free to comment below or on YouTube, and I’ll try to answer to the best of my knowledge.
